3rd day: PAYA - The beginning

The manufacture of toys in IBI, comes thanks to the efforts of the family working as tinsmiths Paya.

The toy manufacturing began in 1893, hand-made in tin, candles, Lecherito, plates, oil. In 1905 Rafael Payá Picó, father of the 3 founders of Payá, sold their children Pascual, Emilio and Vicente Payá Lloret his auto body shop.

In the early toys are made very simple, and then following toys are horses, ships wheels, trains, simple games, mugs, latos and pans. At first they used simple cans plates or bright colors, from 1918-1919 began to be used previously lithographed plates, but until then the toys were painted by hand.

In 1912, the company becomes a company "Payá Hermanos" believes that as a means to perpetuate the family unit and unify the 3 brothers. There is also speculation that it was the way to tackle a new threat, the emergence of Rico SA (ABVerdu and Co.) that says one of its founders was a photographer and painter who worked for Paya which is not allowed to be shareholders thereof.
