Does the moon have roads?
The Nevada Test Site is place where they have conducted more nuclear tests on American soil. Is in the desert of Nevada, northwest of Las Vegas, and its appearance resembles the lunar surface completely. Between 1951 and 1992 there were almost 1000 nuclear tests, and 800 were underground. Each crater is a nuclear explosion.
A unique worldwide
At first the detonations were atmospheric, but since 1962 they became underground testing. The area has more than 1000 buildings to house the workers, measuring instruments and store the array. Close the Nevada Test Site is the legendary Area 51 (go area to explore, right?).
Nevada is the big U.S. nuclear lab
much thought surprising that the military and the American government decided to carry out many tests in their own country and so close to cities like Las Vegas. Legend has it that during the decade of the '50s, whenever there was atmospheric testing, the terraces of the hotels and casinos were full of tourists to see the "show."
The massive crater Sedan test
The July 6, 1962 saw the test known as Sedan. His interest was to see how nuclear energy could help build wells, mines and caves. It was a thermonuclear bomb buried 190 meters deep which created a crater 390 meters wide and 100 deep. Seismic waves were generated equivalent to an earthquake of 4.7 magnitude on the Richter scale.

The resulting crater, which have over here in the foreground and you can visit within a tour of the area, is the largest artificial crater of America. There is an impressive footage of the explosion that you can see in this video Youtube.
