The Manhattan Project was perhaps the greatest technological and scientific effort of the twentieth century with the space race. Once finished, it was decided that all participants, regardless of rank and level, should have a commemorative pin. When World War II ended, each of the 132,000 people who were part of project received a small insignia.
Reverse of pin
The silver pin was for all those who had worked for a year or more for the veterans. A all those who participated in the project for less than a year gave them the bronze. We assume that Oppenheimer would deserve the gold-deserved, for sure "!
Bronze Pin
The symbology is as follows: "A bomb" atomic bomb, and the building / castle that was listed under the symbol representing Army Corps of Engineers . In fact, the headquarters of the Manhattan Project, located in Oak Ridge, were known as "the castle."
The pin measures 1 inch in diameter
